I am a little leery of James Patterson books because I feel the his name is in large print as the marketing hook and the quality of the book depends on the name in small print, Marshall Karp in this case。 I have not read other books in this series, but based on this one, I might go look for some。 Kylie and Zach make a fun team and I enjoyed the plot, the secondary plot and the colorful characters。 Well paced, plenty of action。

David Smith

NYPD Red is on of my favorites。

Exciting action packed mystery。 When a famous star, Erin Easton, is kidnapped, Detectives Kylie and Zach are assigned to solve the crime。 You will be guessing till the end what really happened。

Kim Perron

Might be getting to the end of this series but generally like them well enough。

Alison Ivey

It was entertaining but not gripping。 An interesting plot or two, some complex organizational stuff, and a resolution that was relatively easy to guess earlier on。 Some snappy dialogue provides a bit of the gloss that otherwise is missing。

Great read as always from James Patterson。 This one kept you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end with plenty of twists and turns

I had forgotten how much I enjoy this series, since it's been awhile since I read the last installment。 In NYPD Red 6, Zack and Kylie are working to solve two crimes: the kidnapping of a famous reality TV star and a series of robberies by two men who pose as EMTs to gain access to secured apartment buildings。 This book is everything I love about a Patterson book - short chapters, great characters, suspense, and just a great story! NYPD Red is an ongoing series from James Patterson and I feel it’s been a bit hit and miss over recent instalments。 The cop side of things and the central mysteries are always interesting, if not a tad easy to solve but the increasing focus on the personal lives has been a touch boring。In this outing however, much more focus is given to the central plot of the abduction。 It’s very clear early on what is happening and who is involved but as we’re part of that journey is more engaging than a lackl NYPD Red is an ongoing series from James Patterson and I feel it’s been a bit hit and miss over recent instalments。 The cop side of things and the central mysteries are always interesting, if not a tad easy to solve but the increasing focus on the personal lives has been a touch boring。In this outing however, much more focus is given to the central plot of the abduction。 It’s very clear early on what is happening and who is involved but as we’re part of that journey is more engaging than a lacklustre surprise。 It’s an easy to read, fun piece of writing that won’t take hard brain cells to follow or large periods of concentration。 The thing that brings it down is that the main characters, who were supposed to root for, just aren’t that nice! Imagine Alex Cross or the Women’s Murder Club without the charm! 。。。more

When a well know woman is kidnapped on her wedding day NYPD Red cops, are on the scene but as they are trying to figure out this case they are also called upon to work a case where older women with a lot of money have been robbed when an EMT crew say that got a call to come to these women。 A lot of back and forth on the two cases but the red team is up for the challenge。 Fast paced and a quick read。

I wasn't going to read the newest NYPD Red novel since I had distanced myself from James Patterson's novels。 But then my dad read it and said it was pretty good, so I decided to give it a chance。 I'm glad I did since this may be one of my favourite NYPD Red novels。 There were 2 solid mysteries that had me guessing and thankfully there wasn't much will they/won't they between Zach and Kylie。 The short chapters had me hooked and I wanted to keep reading。 I wasn't sure where the one storyline was g I wasn't going to read the newest NYPD Red novel since I had distanced myself from James Patterson's novels。 But then my dad read it and said it was pretty good, so I decided to give it a chance。 I'm glad I did since this may be one of my favourite NYPD Red novels。 There were 2 solid mysteries that had me guessing and thankfully there wasn't much will they/won't they between Zach and Kylie。 The short chapters had me hooked and I wanted to keep reading。 I wasn't sure where the one storyline was going to go since the kidnapper was revealed early on, but thankfully things weren't how they appeared。 。。。more

Entertaining Lots of action, interesting characters, easy read。 Kylie and Zach are lead characters in this series。 Their relationship is complex。 They are the star detectives in an elite NYPD division that caters to the wealthy。 You could read the novel as a stand alone but reading it as a series probably adds more to your enjoyment。

Great murder mystery novel with a plot that kept me guessing what would happen next。 It’s a definite page turner。

that are not only difficult but involve its wealthy and well-connected citizens。 They often demand the special attention these people believe they deserve because of their elevated status and whether they warrant it or not, they are treated differently。 Detectives Zach Jordon and Kylie MacDonald are two detectives attached to the squad who have the sensitivity and know-how to work with this select group。 This is the sixth installment in the series, one which finds the two investigating the kidnapping of a celebrity and a series of robberies of wealthy elderly women。 Zach, the primary narrator of their cases takes up that role once again。Reality TV star and singer Erin Easton, one of the most recognizable women in America, is marrying Jamie Gibbs, son of multi-millionaire Veronica Gibbs in an event billed to be the wedding of the century。 ZTV network executive Harris Brockway has put up millions to put it on and broadcast this occasion as a special reality show with an over-the-top reception, a live band and exclusive interviews with celebrity guests。 It has all the necessary ingredients of reality show fodder and he expects it to be a huge money-making success。 Known as Brock, he is a pompous, aggressive man convinced of his own self-importance, who barrels his way past anyone who tries to interrupt his plans。 And his wife Anna just happens to be Erin Easton’s long-time friend and manager。 A huge security detail is in place to keep Erin’s many fans at bay and protect her, her jewelry and her possessions。 One security guard is posted outside her dressing room door and five more are in the ballroom where all the action is playing out。 Jamie Gibbs is the lucky man who is marrying Erin。 He is thirtyish, a spoiled rich kid with a reputation for sexual exploits and squiring beautiful women around town。 He has never had a real job or accomplished much in life, but after a scary event a few years ago when he woke up one morning with a girl who had overdosed and died in his bed, he straightened up, gave up the coke and booze and went to work for his mother。 As a love interest, he is completely out of Erin’s league, but he is the one she has chosen to marry。 She knows time is getting on and if she is to marry well, she’d better get moving, the choices are quickly narrowing。 Although Jamie has no money of his own, as the only child of Veronica Gibb, owner of Head Turners, an international multimillion dollar modeling agency, he will one day inherit her huge wealth。 Veronica is a tough corporate executive who runs her business and her son’s life with an iron fist。 She hates Erin, doesn’t believe she loves her son and is only after his money。 The relationship between the two women was on rocky ground to begin with, but things got nastier after a Vanity Fair article in which Veronica, was quoted as saying she thought Erin was “a gold-digging whore”。 The gloves were off, as the tabloids pounced on the quote and gave it a life of its own。 Things continued to go downhill when Veronica refused to attend her son’s wedding。 Partway through the reception Erin leaves to change her clothes to perform a couple of music numbers, part of the network’s idea to jazz up the special。 She enters her heavily guarded changing room but forty minutes later has still not emerged。 Her fans are waiting and Brock angrily bangs on the door to hurry her along。 He gets no answer and the room is locked so he returns with Declan McMaster, the man in charge of Erin’s security detail。 When they enter the room, it is empty。 The back door leading to the street has been left open, a chair is overturned and a wine glass and Erin’s blood-spattered wedding dress are lying on the floor。 Detective Kylie MacDonald who attended the wedding as a guest, quickly goes into action, contacting Zach Jordan and starting the investigation。 With the help of Bobby Diaz their technical wizard and Chuck Dryden a forensic investigator, Kylie and Zach learn that Bobby Dodd a man obsessed with Erin who has stalked her for months, has abducted her and is demanding twenty-five million from Jamie for her release。 Jamie has no money of his own and knows his mother, who won’t even return his phone calls since the kidnapping, will never part with a nickel to help him get Erin back。 He must do something quickly, while Zach and Kylie race against the clock to see if they can find Erin。 With the public’s attention on this high-profile kidnapping and Erin’s fans concerned for her safety and anxious to see what happens, Brock at the TV network begins a regular program of reporting on the event, which brings in high ratings and fuels even more sympathy for Erin。 Meanwhile, elsewhere in Manhattan two EMTs have developed a profitable scheme targeting elderly wealthy women and robbing them of their cash and jewelry。 They arrive in an ambulance, hurry past the doormen armed with a gurney and a fake story about an emergency, pull a gun on the tenant and her caretaker, tie them up and leave with the victim’s cash and jewelry。 They leave the same way they came, explaining to the doorman it was a false alarm and the woman is fine。 They then repeat the crime working from the same script。 Detectives are unable to find anything that connects the crimes and give them a lead on the perpetrators。 Clearly, they are getting insider information somewhere so they know who to target and scope out each victim in advance。 Things go well for them until someone on the team makes a big mistake。 This installment in the Red series is full of action from the get-go。 It starts with the kidnapping at the wedding as Zach and Kylie race against time to find Erin before Bobby Dodd carries out his threat to cut her if he doesn’t get the ransom。 But about halfway through the book, when it appears Kylie and Zach get close to closing the case, the intensity and the pace drops, plummeting like a stone and never picking up again when the two detectives become immersed in the EMT robberies and feeling like the narrative limps to the end。 The entire book feels like a screenplay, so heavy on action readers just move from one scene to the next, following the characters。 We learn very little more than we already know about the two lead detectives, although we do get to catch up on their personal lives。 The tension from their past affair is still there。 They were once lovers and although they separated, have never lost their feelings for each other。 This is another light, entertaining ride from Patterson and one of his many co-writers。 A great book to pick up at the airport for that long ride or while standing in those long lines waiting for your COVID 19 vaccine。 。。。more

Quick read with a good plot and of course some of the reoccurring characters from the NYPD Red series readers have come to enjoy。 I loved the plot and subplot in this installment even though it was pretty predictable and a few of the characters were easy to despise。 Overall, a quick and entertaining read to enjoy in an evening。
